Need help: PvM WWer

[:1]Hello this ladder season I got lucky getting a Ber rune in a giveaway so I decided to convert my trapper to a variant of the WW Shredsin. It is my only character (started again fresh after 5 years in anticipation of Diablo 3)

Anyways I now have acces to a pretty decent Chaos Claw and some other gear that was suggested for this build. Now it comes to the build itself I need some help deciding how to spread my skillpoints and what gear to use.

Skills

20 Claw Mastery (lvl 32+ after +skills)

20 Venom (lvl 32+ after +skills)

10 Shadow Master (lvl 32+ summoning with special +skills set in town)

20 Lightning Sentry (lvl 29+ after + skills and chaos claw)

20 Death Sentry (lvl 28+ after + skills and chaos claw)

Build done at lvl 93 (currently lvl 90)

I like how I can max all important skills to boost my dmg, what I don't like is the short duration on Blade Shield with only 1 point in it (around 50-60 seconds).

Fade adds 17% physical dmg reduction after my +16 to shadowskills, together with gear this brings me to 32% physical dmg reduction is this to low for WW in hell?

Gear

Chaos Runic Talons with +3 LS, +2 DS and +1 WoI

Upped 198% 9LL Bartucs 30 FHR +2 skills socketed with a perfect skull for some more leeching (Want to get a nice Fury Runic Talon some day)

-

Highlords Wrath (+1 Skills, 35% Deadly Strike, 35% Lightning Resist)

Bul Kathos 4ll (+1 Skills, 4% ll)

Ravenfrost (cannot be frozen, 15-45 cold dmg, dex and high attackpower)

-

Verdungo's Belt (10fhr, 15% phys dmg red, lots of hp)

Gore Riders 180% (15% crushing blow, 15% deadly strike 10% open wounds)

Guillaume's Face (35% crushing blow, 15% deadly strike, 30 fhr, 15 str) empty socket

-

Anhilus (+1 skills, 11 stats 15 resist all)

Assa Torch (+3 skills, 17 stats and 19% resist all)

Shadow tree Grand charms (+6 to shadow tree)

Soul Drainers (6% manaleech, 7% ll and - 50 to monster defense per hit) need these to sustain my whirlwinding when my merc with Insight pole arm dies.

Natalyas Armour (+2 shadowtree, 25% poison resist 3 empty sockets) not sure what to fill them with and whether I should go for a different armor like Duress or even Enigma in the far future

Stats

Strength 85 (117 after the charms kick in which then gives me enough to equip all my gear)

Dexterity 65 (117 after the charms and ravenfrost kick in which then gives me enough to equip all my gear)

Vitality everything else

Energie base altough I wonder if it might be smart to throw some points in here to give me a bit bigger manapool.

Resistances

Poison -100 + 30(anya) + 62(fade) + 34 (Unique charms) +25 (Armour) = +66%

Cold -100 + 30(anya) + 62(fade) + 34 (Unique charms) = 41%

Fire -100 + 30(anya) + 62(fade) + 34 (Unique charms) = 41%

Lightning -100 + 30(anya) + 62(fade) + 34 (Unique charms) +35% (Amulet) = +76%

So I would need to add 10% poison resistance, 24% cold resistance and 24% fireresistance through small charms, runes or jewels.

Totals

All in all I have the following:

50% crushing blow

65% deadly strike

35% open wounds

20% LL

9% ML

216-471 magic dmg (chaos)

1-30 lightning dmg (highlords)

15-45 cold dmg (ravenfrost)

Max resists

70 FHR (should I try and get to 86 FHR and hit the next breakpoint?)

Advice needed

Basicly what I'm asking is what should I do to improve this build.

While WWing it seems that the lifetap on draculs grasp doesnt proc, it only procs when I attack normally is this correct? This would make them alot less interesting. Using Soul Drainers now for the manaleech should I use different gloves (for example Steelrends) and boost my Mercs survivability and rely on his meditation aura from Insight Polearm?

Should I go save for a good Fury Claw to replace my Bartucs

Should I replace my armour and gloves to add another 25% crushing blow bringing me to 75% crushing blow instead of 50%?

Should I replace my armour for an Enigma armour (+2 skills, massive strength teleport and 8% pdr)

Should I replace my armour for Chains f Honor (+2 skills 8% pdr 8%ll 200% dmg to demons and 100% dmg to undead)

What kind of jewels/runes/gems should i put in my sockets or what kind of charms should I get (should I look for ED, attackpower, resists, elemental dmg, fhr?)

Should I change my Skills?|||Quote:

Correct, ww doesn't proc chance to cast on stricking like life tap of dracs etc. I'd say crafted 10cb, 20ias, leech blood crafted gloves could be interesting for this build.

Not sure, fury in the right base claw should be better then bartucs, but maybe you should aim for something else first?

The best claw is probably some near impossible to get rare like always though ...

I'd say duress is a better bet then nats armor for this build in any case, and as said previously blood crafted gloves deserve attention imo.

Depends on how you wish to play her, teleport or not makes for very different game experiences after all.

Again up to you ... depends on how much you wish to focus on ww and how much on traps. CoH is kinda the middle ground between fort (ww+durability focus) and enigma (trap+mobility focus) as I see it.

Get the trap laying speed firstly, maxed resists after fade, don't think you need to bother with much fhr, after that ... dunno, some PDR maybe?

Not sure if you'll have any use of that high level master, she's kinda slow at killing things on her own and you're melee yourself ... so don't really use her for tanking. If things get hard you've always got mb/cos to fall back on.

If you're going to max LS you might as well spend those points on a synergy instead imo.|||Quote:

Would those be better then Steelrends you reckon?

Probably agree with you on this one. I thought about putting 3 poison facets in Nats armour to synergise with my Venom, the +2 to shadowtree is pretty nice on the Nats armour and can't say I mind the -75% poison length.

If the dmg is about the same then Duress is ofcourse alot cheaper.

If I go duress I think I will have more then 86 FHR so that would be an easy fix. How do I go about adding PDR though? Throwing Ber runes in my armour is a bit more costly then I can afford on the ladder.

How much Ias from gear do I need for max trap laying speed?

She is really saving my *** right now. I kind of like having a decent lvl master to divert attention from the extremely dangerous monsters while I setup some traps and figure out the best way to take the group.

I might be able to get a decent enough level by having a prebuff set in town for it which could potentially save me 10 points which could go to FB or to Fade to give me an extra 10 PDR.|||Quote:

In my opinion the strength req isn't worth the extra ed on stealrends. And crafted ones can have some other useful mods like stats/res on top of cb and ias ... but it's of course not always easy to obtain a good pair.

Not sure why I didn't suggest trang-gloves in my last post ... guess I was only thinking along the lines of cb for some reason. In any case trang gloves is another choice if you wish to buff your poison damage, would be a bit of a waste maxing venom and not using those gloves.

Can't be sure that duress does more damage, haven't done the calculations, but I wouldn't use 3 facets on a nats armor unless I'm damn sure it's the best option for the build in question, and that I'll enjoy playing her for a long time ... after all there's a very limited supply of other builds I (and others) could put it to use on.

You cannot be stunned while wwing, so fhr shouldn't be important at all. PDR = "physical damage reduced by x", a straight point reduction not a % like you get from ber runes. Sol runes are cheap ... but I guess that was a bad suggestion, you need quite a lot PDR for it to really shine.

Check the IAS table sticky, the amount needed will depend on your claws WSM so I cannot give you a direct answer.

With mb you can just convert some monsters to fight for you, and with cos you can blind everything but champions/unique monsters. A master higher then 1 point +skills shouldn't be needed, but if you like her I guess it's fine.

Imo don't spend those points to get higher DR from fade in PvM, damage should be important. Just like a barb you should reach a point were you can leech back more damage then you take while wwing in 90% of the situations ... in the remaining 10% traps+mb/cos will save the day. Even minions of destruction can be stunned with mb ...|||Quote:

All of the above.

Trangs gives you a 56% increase in Venom damage, nuff said. Steelrends is overrated; I can't think of a single PvM build where it's the optimal choice. 50% CB is enough on a build like this, imo if you can afford it would be silly to use anything other than Fort or CoH. I would choose the leech on Strings over the vit from Verdungo and the MDR doesn't hurt either.

Consider Reaper's on the merc if you can fit some mana leech somewhere (I would drop the BK for a ML/AR ring). Pots are also quite handy

Bartuc's is good enough so that would be the last thing I would look to replace.|||Quote:

Could you maybe explain how this works exactly is it 25% extra poison dmg and then another 25% extra poisondmg over the increased poisondmg as in (1x1.25)x1.25? I heard something about a double poison application bug is that it? Does it only work for Trang Oul gloves or also for the Poison Facets? Also it doesn't seem to show a 56% increase in my statsscreen is that correct?

If the multipliers go nuts like that then those poison facets could make the dmg skyrocket.

Say I'm using Trang Oul gloves and 5 Poison Facets does it work like this (before factoring in the lowering of their poison resistance):

A) 1x1.25x1.25x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.05= 200% poison dmg

B) 1x1.25x1.25x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.05x1.0 5x1.05x1.05= 250% poison dmg

C) 1x1.25x1.25x(1.05+0.05+0.05+0.05+0.05)= 195%

D) 1x1.25x1.25+(1.05+0.05+0.05+0.05+0.05)= 181%

There is quite a difference between them all and it could make Natalyas armour pretty much the best armour to use in this case.

I can't afford any of the expensive runeword armours currently (have about 5 ists) to spend but its always nice to have something to work for.

This will also be my only character until Diablo 3 comes out so anything spend on it isn't really wasted.

Reaper's Toll would be great to have indeed -50% poison resistance and slow are sexy. Noticed though that it's extremely hard to get enough Manaleech from items so I'm not sure if it will be an option.

I could also make sure I have a bit bigger manapool and then use pots but how much mana would be enough for that and should I get it from charms (hard) or take some points from Vitality for it?

Also could High Lifeleech paired with dmg taken goes to mana work?|||Hi there

It's a very interesting build you've made and I'd love to create an Assassin much like the one you've described here, if you dont mind.

I have a question though: How fast is its killing speed?

I think I read somewhere that Shredsins where lacking in PvM, and that its main use was PvP.

If you've made your build yet could you please post you're numbers? I'd love to see what damage a Shredsin can perform |||+Poison Skill damage is essentially applied twice with venom, once when cast and once when you hit a monster. All +Poison skill damage is aded up pre calclation.

So with 500 base poison damage and just trangs we get:

500 x 1.25 x 1.25 = 781

And with trangs and 3 perf facets we get

500 x 1.4 x 1.4 = 980

The - EPR is only applied once. If you really wanted to you can pre-buff with +Poison skill damage, but that is only applied once. So with trangs on full time, and 7 perf facets (2 per claw 3 in armoue say):

500 x 1.6 x 1.25 = 1000

In my opinion pre-buff on pvm is a waste though. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Reaper's toll does not effect poison damage. Decrepify reduces physical resistance.|||Thx Ojimijam that explains alot. Also shows that it is definately worth it to go the Poison Facets route. Hmmm something to ponder about.

@SemperArdens my build is far from complete at the moment. I'm lvl 90 and have the skills and stats done but I'm lacking a few keyitems to really make it shine.

I can rip everything to bits in Hell Chaos when I'm soloing but it already slows down when I do magicfind runs with a buddy.

I'll let you know how the poisonfacets work out in combination with Trang's gloves.

1125 poison damage per hit with a 4 frame WW doesn't sound to bad.|||Quote:

Sounds great, and hopefully the last pieces of gear will make you able to take care of your own in /p8.

Do you rely alot on your traps/Mb/CS/Merc? Or is WW enough?
